SCREENSHOTS

Concept, Objects, Text, Dance: July Weber / Music, Performance: Makita

In Screenshots July Weber continues their research around performing for and with non-human entities. For the residency and final performance at TomorrowMaybe Gallery at Eaton Hong Kong the focus lies on dancing with our fears. Therefore, July invites and confronts our fears on stage by embodying them and asking them for a dance. This dialogue with our fears has therapeutic aspects and as well is understood as a fruitful ground for artistic creation. While establishing and switching between these different fear-characters a movement-quality of somatic schizophrenia is developed. July collaborates with musician Makita, who deconstructs mainstream pop-culture into a performative album of electronic soundscapes dedicated to each of the different summoned fears.
